Sucking Up To Twilight

Sure, moms have Robert Pattinson to keep us eagerly tuned into The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie opening this weekend. But what do our babies have to share in this vamporific movement that is sweeping the nation?

How about some fangs to suck on?

This adorable-yet-creepy pacifier from Stupid.com ($9.99, for ages 3 months and older) is a fun way to put some teeth into this Twilight madness. Just hide the garlic.

Room to Boom

The celebrities collided in a big baby boom at the Boom Boom Room's Children's Gifting Wonderland, an annual showcase in which several pregnancy and baby item makers get show off and shove goodies into the hands of Hollywood mommies and daddies.

It's a crowded and crazy affair, with photographers, publicists and media types just trying to negotiate narrow hallways. But I was scouting it out to see a) what's cool and happening in the infant world; and b) what the new trends are in products for peewees and preggies.

Cool new products are born with almost the same frequency as Hollywood babies. Some of my faves included stainless-steel baby bottles from organicKidz, funky-fun ties for little boys from Beverly Hills-based My Rock and Roll Baby, darling hooded towels from Snugaboo and some really sweet hand-knitted caps and gloves from Zooni.

For the star fans, the event on Jan. 9-10 in Century City drew tons of fresh-faced Hollywood moms and dads, including Anne Heche (I didn't even know she was expecting!), Tim Allen (with his pregnant wife), Angela Kinsey (from The Office), Constance Zimmer (one of my favorites on Entourage), Jodie Sweetin (can you believe this Full House star is filling her own house now?) and, oddly, Kathy Hilton (mother of two famous sisters, who, I'm hoping, aren't about to break the news).

The buzzword for the day was "bamboo" (makes for very soft and naturally hygienic bankies and such) as well as "stainless steel" (so we don't have to worry about BPAs and other plastics issues). Baskin Robbins was a sponsor and is coming out with a new line of low-cal and low-fat ice creams. That might be the best news yet.

Of course, it wasn't all gluttonous consumption. The event host, Jayneoni Moore, holds the event to raise awareness and support for L.A.-area foster children and for the Jayneoni Moore Children's Fund.
